This month I want to talk about support. It’s hard to succeed at change unless you have support. Most people are like me and have weak moments and need someone to help us to get back on track. Or sometimes we just do not see that we are straying off the path that we are working towards. We are humans and not perfect. So of course we are going to get off track. But it’s nice when you have the support to help you through the weaknesses and get back on track. I want to talk about some of the support I have had.
The first and most helpful is my husband. We have taken many walks together since this started. He has also been changing his eating habits. He’s more health conscious. He’s also been there when I’ve had weaknesses and reminded me to get back on track. There have also been many nights when he came home from work and he would eat dinner and then watch the kids while I climbed on the treadmill for an hour to an hour in a half. So he has changed his life to help work with mine. If it wasn’t for him stepping up I wouldn’t have made it this far.
My kids are also a big help. Thanks to my running they have also taken up running. We do a lot of races. And there have also been many times that I would be grabbing for something bad and they would remind me that I should not eat it. And with them being young they are very active. So they keep me active. They are also understanding when I’m ready to hit a video and cannot have them getting in the way so I send them down to Grandpa. My father in law has also been a big help. Watching the kids while I worked out, listening to me whine about sweets, and for reminding me of eating bad things.
My dad has been a big support by being my shoulder to whine on. Yes, I seem to whine to everyone about not being able to eat cake and ice cream whenever I want. But it’s about health and changing my habits. So it’s a good thing and he reminds me of that. Reminds me the way only a parent can so you don’t get all huffy and puffy (like I tend to do with most people). He’s also been taking walks with us so we can get healthier together.
And now for someone else that has played a big part in this. My best friend and wonderful neighbor Debbie. I couldn’t have made it this far without her. She doesn’t realize how much of a help she is. I can come talk to her about anything and she listens and gives me her hard butted advice. She doesn’t play around with words and that’s what I adore about her. If I asked her how something looked on me, she would tell me the truth because she wouldn’t want me to walk around looking like an idiot. And I adore that about her! She also loves to take walks and we need to start doing that again now that it’s cooling off again. I think she has played one of the bigger parts of my success. How she always tries to lift me up and cheer me on. I actually think she is my biggest cheerleader! She cheers me on in all of my facebook posts. About runs, walks, and almost anything to do with exercise or health. Her cheering me on has made a big difference!
Thanks Debbie and everyone else for always being there and keeping me on track! You all do not know how much it helps and how much it lifts me up!
Who supports you when you need it? Do you have a special someone or special cheering section?
